It’s World Values Day
Values are like the operating system on a laptop or tablet. When things are working well I tend to forget about my laptop’s operating system or my current client’s set of Shared Values. However, we know from experience that laptops don’t always work smoothly, nor do organisations. Both can suffer from a virus attack.
In an organisation a Value that has been broken is like a virus in the system and it can create a serious problem. In an organisation an example of a virus could be one or two senior people displaying dysfunctional behaviour with serious effects on productivity, staff turnover and management time.
It is critically important that all organisations have an agreed set Shared Values with agreed specimen behaviours against each value.
We are delighted that the significance of Values is recognised by marking this Thursday as World Values Day. A special website has been created containing some good resources.
